March 3, 2015

Feb 2015 was a big Month for TBS members in fitness, weight loss and competition.
The Old School Fightcamp was a hit and the boys lost 79kg as a group between 10 people over 4 weeks.
Our Junior members had an Intermediate sparring competition and our Competitive team started the year off with 4 wins from as many starts.
We have been contacted by many people in February to join our team and see what all the fuss is about.
As we say #Teamworkmakesthedreamwork

2015 Fightcamp hits big Goals

The Fightcamp boys had some big goals to achieve and they all came in under their weight goals for the month.

Good to see Leighton,John and Daniel back in the gym and achieving goals after a few months out of action.
an average of 7.9kg was lost per person over the 1 month training program,it just shows what you are capable of when you put your mind to it.
Great work Lads

Junkee,Skye and V have wins at Beenleigh

Junkee had his first match organised at Beenleigh tavern in an event run by the Albert shire boxing club on Feb 21.The first round started at a fast pace and Junkee kept it up for the duration over 3 rounds, to win by unanimous decision. Junkee stepped up in weight and experience in his match and returned to Korea the day after.I think its safe to say Junkee was excited ! (had to be there joke).

13 yr old Skye Olive was determined to have the fight of her life and she didnt dissapoint. She boxed smart over the 3 rounds with fast footwork and sharp crisp combination punching hich left her opponent with no answer.

Skye won a unanimous decision over her opponent from Cairns.
There was another side to this story which was a little discusting (and also very funny).Skye has a habit of having a little vomit from a mixture of nerves and excitment although this wasnt a little vomit,it went directly in to the face of her coach Shara who along with everyone else in attendance just froze at the thought of what happened….Sharas quote : its a good job I love you SkOlive…My own kids have never even done that to me!

V – was our final boxer of the night and she was up against a very tough girl from Brisbane Boxing.V boxed well and used her coordination and long attacks to win the match over 3 rounds.

Intermediate Kids step up

Our Intermediate kids chose to have their first taste of competition on Feb 28 at The Boxing Shop gym.

We hosted a mini sparring competition from 10.30 am which was well supported by our familys and friends.
With too many names to mention,I have to point out 1 kid who showed great resilience and stood up to be counted on the sparring day. Zee (as we call him or Zoro) is a very quite kid who is a little unconfident at times, but on the weekend this kid showed a ton of heart and showed why Boxing is a great sport for all kids from any walk of life to be involved with. This kid used his skill and speed and a tremendous heart to stand up and challenge himself in an arena where most wont go.What a champion this kid has become and Im sure his confidence is through the roof at the moment.

Well done to all participants and to everyone who helped out

News just In : NIKITA WINS AT NATIONAL TITLES

16 year Old Nikita Croden has just won at the 2015 Junior womens Australian championships against her fancied opponent from Victoria.
Nikita unfortuntely missed the initial weigh in on Saturday but on Sunday she made the weight easily and outboxed the Victorian in all 3 rounds.
This means that because of not making the weight on day 1 she was excluded from becoming the official Australian Champion so she had a “challenge match” against the same opponent.
Qld Coach Shara Romer said “Nikita was on fire, its by far the best she’s ever boxed and she put into practise all the work she’s being doing in training.

Well done Nikita!
